MORE tips for a good night’s rest

goodsleepHere are more sleep tips to help you get your nightly rest,  so you’ll be all charged up for the next day’s activities.

1. Got milk?
A glass of warm milk at bedtime may help to induce sleep, as may a warm bath containing relaxing essential oils such as Lavender or Marjoram.
2.
Choose a comfortable mattress and pillow. Each person has a different preference for the type of pillow and bed, so make sure what you choose suits you. If your children prefer a softer pillow, let them have one. If you share your bed, make sure there's enough space for everyone to sleep comfortably.     alt
3. Have a relaxing bedtime routine. Do the same things each night to tell your body it's time to 'take it easy'. You can take a warm bath or shower, play your favourite music or read a book. If you have soft lights in your room, turn them on instead of bring florescent lights.
4. Go to bed only when you're tired. Trying to fall asleep when you're still wide awake and have a lot of things in your mind can only make things worse and cause you more stress! Do something that relaxes you till you feel tired, and then go to bed.
5. Take a B Group Vitamin Complex supplement. This supplement, preferably with magnesium, can help your body cope with stress during the day so you can sleep better at night.

6. Cut down on daytime naps. Try not to sleep more than half an hour during the day, as this will make it harder for you to have  a full night's sleep. If you must nap, do so during the midafternoon.
7. Don't eat or drink a lot before bedtime. Eat a light dinner at least two hours before sleeping. If you're prone to heartburn, avoid spicy or fatty foods, which can trigger your heartburn. Don't drink too much either, for a full bladder will result in many night trips to the loo.
